Double elimination
Double elimination is a knockout where you have to lose twice to go out. Losers drop into a second bracket and can still reach the grand final. If the player from the losers bracket wins the final, a deciding match can be played, since it is the other finalist’s first defeat.
How it works
- 1Everyone starts in the winners bracket
- 2Lose once and you drop into the losers bracket
- 3Lose twice and you are out
- 4The two bracket winners meet in the grand final
When to use it
For an event where travelling for one match feels harsh. It takes roughly twice the matches of a knockout.
