SHIX
One number.
Every frame.
SHIX is your rating on The Snooker Hub. It follows you to every league, cup and open you play, and it is rebuilt from the frames themselves, so it can always be checked.
- 01
Everyone starts at 1500
Your first frames move the number quickly, because nobody knows yet how good you are. Every frame after that moves it a little less.
- 02
Every frame counts once
A best of 7 is seven pieces of evidence, a one-frame league night is one. Win a frame and you go up, lose one and you come down.
- 03
Who you beat matters
Beat someone rated higher and you gain more. Lose to someone rated lower and it costs more. Two players on the same number swap the same amount.
- 04
No frame moves it more than 35
One fluke never runs away with your number. A bigger surprise still moves it more, just never past the limit.
- 05
Time away widens the band
Come back after a long break and your next frames move you further, so the number catches up with you.
- 06
Friendlies and practice stay out
Only competition frames count. Knock about with a mate as much as you like: your number is safe.
- 07
Handicaps are fair
A handicap frame counts only when the result would have stood from level. If the start decided the frame, the frame is left out.
- 08
Doubles count
In a pairs frame each side is averaged, and both players move against the other side.
Ranked or provisional
You are ranked once you have 20 rated frames and a rated frame in the last 120 days. Until then your number is provisional: you still see it, and where it would put you, but the rankings wait until it has settled.
Ranking points are different
SHIX measures how well you play. Ranking points measure what you have won: each organisation awards them for frames, matches and finishing positions over the last 365 days. One answers who is best, the other who is on form this season.
