The touching ball
When the cue ball stops against another ball, it is a touching ball. The player has to play away from it without moving it. If the touching ball is a ball on, it counts as hit. Moving it is a foul.
How it plays
Play away, not through: hitting the touching ball moves it, and that is a push shot. Touching a ball that is not on, the player still has to hit a ball on.
